Infection Prevention and Control Bootcamp

This basic course is designed to provide healthcare workers the fundamental information necessary for a successful infection prevention program.

DNV is offering a 3-day basic training course designed to train healthcare professionals in the fundamental concepts necessary to manage an infection prevention and control program.

Individuals who sit for, and pass (≥80%) the follow up test will receive a Basic Infection and Prevention Certificate from DNV. 

Key Objectives: 

  • Understand the role of the Infection Preventionist in healthcare 
  • Discuss the components of an Infection Prevention Program 
  • Describe the functions of a successful Infection Prevention Program 
  • Explore methods to gather data necessary to evaluate the Infection Prevention Program 
  • Identify potential roadblocks to accurate data collection 
  • Review common NHSN definitions used for determining the presence of healthcare associated infections 
  • Discuss ways to aggregate and analyze data collected  
  • Identify methods of data collection necessary to perform a comprehensive Infection Prevention Risk Assessment 
  • Explore methods to identify things that may be placing the organization and patients at the greatest risk 
  • Understand how the Infection Prevention Risk Assessment is used to develop the Infection Prevention Plan and prioritized goals
  • Define emerging pathogens  
  • Identify steps to take when dealing with emerging pathogens 
  • Define Outbreaks 
  • Identify Steps and Processes for Outbreak Investigations
