DNVGL-ST-F119 Thermoplastic composite pipes training course (2 days)

This two-days training course explains the philosophy and usage of DNVGL-ST-F119 by going through a qualification case of a thermoplastic composite pipe.

DNV GL has published a standard (ST) - DNVGL-ST-F119 Thermoplastic composite pipes - allowing operators to qualify and utilize thermoplastic composite pipes (TCP) instead of metallic ones, creating substantial cost reduction potentials in all stages of oil and gas projects life cycle. Issuing the ST was a significant leap towards creating a common platform for qualification and utilization of thermoplastic composite pipes considering strict safety requirements in the offshore industry. Currently, DNV GL is involved in qualification of TCP for various offshore applications based on the requirements of DNVGL-ST-F119.

Course description
The course is intended to cover all aspects of the qualification process of TCP from manufacturing to analysis and testing. Furthermore, special applications and cost-saving potentials of TCP for the oil and gas industry will be discussed during the two-day course. Topics included will be:
  • Design and safety philosophy of TCP
  • Partial safety factors
  • Short- and long-term testing of TCP
  • Failure mechanisms and design criteria of TCP
  • Analysis method explained using a simple example.
Pre-course reading and information will be sent out prior to course start.

Target group
The course should be of interest to engineers, manufacturers and managers working with pipes or risers with focus on design, structural integrity, operation and materials.
