3rd DNV Maritime Battery Workshop

Technology Week | 24-27 February 2020

Date: Tuesday, February 25, 2020 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Value for attending
Gain knowledge from the battery leaders on latest battery technology trends , maritime regulations and guidance in the design, construction, operation of battery ships.

Workshop content

There were 278 battery hybrid vessels in the worldwide fleet in 2018. In 2019, that total grew by more than one third (379). This positive development is due primarily to charterers, owners and operators realizing the technical viability of battery technology and that proven energy storage solutions are more readily available. Battery technology and solutions are fast evolving, and the maritime industry is constantly learning from these projects. The success and safety of such battery projects depend heavily on the understanding of the technical challenges, selection of the optimal battery technologies, and it’s integration into the platforms and infrastructure network safely.

DNV will host the 3rd DNV Maritime Battery Workshop to share the extensive experience supporting our customers in these areas. This session includes the following topics by regulators, owners, operators, battery manufacturers and DNV

  • Global outlook and next generation of maritime batteries.
  • Update maritime lithium-Ion battery regulations and DNV battery rules.
  • Battery fire safety and lessons learned - Battery Safety Joint Development Project, fire incidents
  • Owner ’s perspective on battery hybrid projects
