WindServe takes delivery of US Flagged DNV GL classed CTV

The leading provider of services to the offshore wind industry, WindServe Marine, LLC (WindServe), has taken delivery of their first purpose-built Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) for long-term charter to offshore wind developer, Ørsted North America (Ørsted).

The first WindServe CTV for the emerging offshore wind industry in the United States has been delivered from Senesco Marine in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The 64-foot vessel, WINDSERVE ODYSSEY, is the first CTV built in the U.S. to class requirements and was constructed to DNV GL classification rules. The high-speed, custom designed CTV from BMT Group can carry up to 20 passengers and four crew members at a maximum speed of 30 knots. The CTV has joined the closeout of construction and commissioning of The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project (CVOW), developed by Ørsted and Dominion Energy, 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. CVOW, is comprised of two Siemens Gamesa 6 MW turbines and is expected to provide the operational, weather, and environmental experience needed for the 2.6 GW development in the adjacent 112,800 ha lease site, which is said to be operational by 2026.

“For our organization and the broader Reinauer Group, the delivery of our first CTV is a momentous occasion,” said Josh Diedrich, Managing Director at WindServe. “WINDSERVE ODYSSEY will play an important role in supporting our mission to offer premier offshore wind support services to the East Coast and we celebrate in seeing her on the water, providing new and sustainable jobs for U.S. workers”.

“We congratulate WindServe on the delivery of WINDSERVE ODYSSEY,” said Antony DSouza, Executive Vice President and Regional Manager, DNV GL Maritime Americas. “This is a milestone for all of us involved and for this segment of the maritime industry with so much potential. We look forward to the continued growth and development of the Offshore Wind industry and supporting them in the United States.”
