The North American Offshore Equipment Manufacturers’ Committee (NAOEMC) will be hosting our 6th annual meeting on Thursday, October 7th, 2021.

Join us as DNV technical experts and industry leaders discuss topics related to offshore equipment during this 4-hour complimentary virtual seminar using Microsoft Teams platform.


What is the NAOEMC?

The NAOEMC is a committee sponsored by DNV which is comprised of industry experts and leaders seeking to establish expectations and align the industry for future growth and development in offshore equipment manufacturing. In this forum, members can discuss and propose potential changes to the DNV Rules, exchange knowledge, and share their experience and feedback. The NAOEMC meets annually in a forum to discuss relevant topics and hear from speakers from all parties involved with offshore equipment, including DNV, manufacturers, regulatory, owners, operators, and other industry partners.

Who should attend?

This forum is exclusive to the equipment manufacturers for the offshore industry. Participants should be interested in new and developing technology as well as market challenges and opportunities. Participation in this committee is free and voluntary.

Marco Romero - image

Mr. Romero has been with DNV  for 15 years and is a Senior Engineer and Key Account Manager. He is responsible for the design approval and rule interpretation for well control and marine drilling riser equipment. Mr. Romero is a member of API Subcommittee 16, where he is an active participant with task groups API 16F, 16A and 16I. He also currently serves as the chair of API S64. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Nicolas Arteaga - image

Mr. Arteaga has been with Cameron, a Schlumberger company, for over 15 years and is an engineering manager in the pressure control equipment group. His engineering experience includes drilling riser, drilling connectors and all models of Cameron BOPs. He is a member of several API committees, including 16A, 16B, S64, 16ST and more. He currently holds the position of vice-chair of the 16A committee and the vice-chair of Sub-Committee 16. Nic graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and holds a Texas Professional Engineering license.

Chris Johnson - grey - image

Mr. Johnson has worked in the Oil and Gas industry for over 24 years in the design and manufacturing of blowout preventer equipment. In that time, he has served on many API committees, working to improve the specification and standards the industry uses to succeed. Notably, Chris has served on the Standard 53 committee for 11 years and co-chaired the writing of the 16AR standard, which gives guidance on the repair and remanufacture of drill through equipment.

Mr. Salinas is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Alex has been with Cameron for over 20 years and has experience in the repair of surface wellhead and drilling products, with the last 13 years managing repair and recertification of Drill Thru Equipment.

Mark Nolet

Mr. Nolet has been in the oil and gas industry for more than 26 years, starting as a structural engineer designing fixed platforms and later deepwater mooring anchors and subsea foundations. Currently Mark is with 2H Offshore, where he has been a Senior Project Manager for the last 9 years managing various drilling riser and managed pressure drilling development (MPD) projects. His experience at 2H includes development of a next generation MPD drilling riser joint, including design and testing of an annular blowout preventer and rotating control device, as well as riser joint and flexible jumper rig integration. Mark graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelors in Civil/Structural Engineering, is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, and is a certified Project Management Professional.

Mr. Cummings serves as Principle Advisor for Well Control Systems in Chevron’s Global Wells organization. In this role, he manages a team that oversees well control systems reliability, leads development of internal equipment courses, and authors standards for Chevron’s Wells community worldwide. Mr. Cummings serves as Chairman of API SC16 Subcommittee on Well Control Equipment & Systems and also chairs API Standard 53, API 16TR1 Shear Ram Test Protocol, and the Shear Ram Database JIP. He also sits on IOGP’s WEC Well Control Systems committee. Mr. Cummings has 26 years of industry experience and has a BS degree from Nicholls State University.

Mr. McHugh has been with Baker Hughes for 20 years and is a Principle Engineer in the Subsea Drilling Systems division. His engineering experience includes the design and manufacture of drilling riser, connectors, annular and ram BOPs as well as their repair and remanufacture. He is a member of several API committees, including 16C, 16 AR, 16FR, 20P and is currently serving as the committee chair of 16CBM. Bryan graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and again from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, receiving a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Simon Mockler, Business Development Director, Decarbonization and Digitalization, Advisory Americas. As a member of the Region Americas Business Development team, supporting DNV’s maritime customers in addressing the challenges of maritime decarbonization, meeting ESG expectations and leveraging the benefits of emerging technology and digitalization.

Mr. Mockler received a Masters of Engineering (Hons) Ship Science with Naval Architecture, University of Southampton. He joined DNV in 2011 and has worked in consulting roles across multiple industry segments specializing in safety & risk management.

Mr. Miser has been with DNV for 13 years and is currently the Team Leader for CMC Approval. He is responsible for leading DNV’s approval of systems and equipment for Drilling Facilities at the Maritime North America CMC, Houston office. His engineering experience at DNV includes approval activities centered around new and overhauled drilling equipment, shipboard/platform lifting appliances and associated loose gear, as well as technical expertise with interpretation of DNV Offshore Specifications. He is currently also a member of API Subcommittee 16 where he actively contributes to various Task Groups, including 16A/AR/AS, 16F/FR, 16Q, and others. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Mechanical Engineering.
