The MSC Fisheries programme gives fisheries a way to independently confirm sustainability and an assurance to buyers that the fish comes from a well managed and sustainable source.

Fish products that come from fisheries that meet the MSC Environmental standard for sustainable fishing are marked with the MSC ecolabel to show they come from a certified sustainable source. The standard is science-based and applies to wild-capture fisheries only – whatever their size, type or location. It does not apply to farmed fish.

“This accreditation enhances our service portfolio towards the fisheries and seafood industry in general,” says Global Industry Sector Manager for DNV, Stefano Crea.

DNV is already accredited for MSC Chain of Custody and GLOBAL.G.A.P. Aquaculture certification.

MSC Chain of Custody
The Marine Stewardship Council Chain of Custody standard for seafood traceability ensures that the MSC label is only displayed on seafood from a MSC certified sustainable fishery. Once a fishery has been certified, before its seafood can carry the MSC ecolabel, all companies in the supply chain must have MSC Chain of Custody certification.

GLOBAL.G.A.P. Aquaculture
GLOBALG.A.P. (formerly Eurepgap) is the globally recognized B2B standard specifically designed for agriculture to ensure quality, safety and sustainability of a final product.
